World Lightweight Championship
BJ PENN Vs. SEAN SHERK

BJ Penn Vs. Sean Sherk

BJ PENN

5' 9 "
155 Lbs.
Age: 29
Record: 13-4-1
From: Hilo, Hawaii

UFC Lightweight Champion BJ Penn is considered by many to be one of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the world. At UFC 80, Penn finally captured the lightweight title in his third attempt. Penn's list of victims includes many top 155 and 170 pound fighters, including Matt Hughes, Jens Pulver, Joe Stevenson, Din Thomas, and Matt Serra. In recent times, Penn has shown a dedication to training and conditioning that has been absent in the past. He has also shown that the current BJ Penn is the best we've seen yet, and at age 29, he's continuing to improve. He will have to be on top of his game to defeat Sherk.

SEAN SHERK

5' 6 "
155 Lbs.
Age: 34
Record: 35-2-1
From: Oak Grove, Minnesota

Former UFC Lightweight Champion, Sean Sherk comes into his title bout at UFC 84 looking for redemption. It will be his first contest since July 2007 - a victory over Hermes Franca. Shortly after that bout, Sherk was notified by the California State Athletic Commission that he tested positive for a banned substance - a charge which Sherk vehemently denies. He was subsequently suspended, stripped of the lightweight belt, and spent the next 8 months in intense legal proceedings to clear his name. Now, the "Muscle Shark" is back and he's angry. He plans to unleash that anger on BJ Penn and return the lightweight belt around his waist.
