Matt Serra hocked the world last April when he knocked out reigning Welterweight Champion, Georges St-Pierre at UFC 69. Serra was a heavy underdog going into the fight and had been written off by most as a stepping stone for the champ. From the beginning, Serra charged forward and bull-rushed the champion. His powerful punches sent St-Pierre stumbling backwards and awkwardly trying to regain his composure. The final blows came just over 3 minutes in when Serra dropped St-Pierre and finished him off on the ground to become the new champ. Now, Serra travels to St-Pierre's hometown to rematch the man he stole the belt from.

Georges St-Pierre says losing to Matt Serra was the best thing that could have happened for his fight career. He made several key changes after that fight which he feels have improved not only his fight game, but also his life on the whole. St-Pierre returned at UFC 74, taking out top prospect, Josh Koscheck in dominating fashion. Then, on short notice, St-Pierre filled in for Serra at UFC 79 to take on Matt Hughes. It took St-Pierre under two rounds to dispose of Hughes in even more dominating fashion, setting up the rematch with Serra. Now, he will have the hometown advantage as he looks to regain the UFC Welterweight Championship.
