Matt Serra Vs. Matt Hughes

GEORGES ST-PIERRE

5'10"
170 Lbs.
Age: 26
Record: 14-2-0
From: Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Georges "Rush" St-Pierre reached the pinnacle of his career in November 2006 when he knocked out Matt Hughes to win the UFC Welterweight Championship. But, St-Pierre's reign was short-lived when he was upset by Matt Serra at UFC 69. Now, it is St-Pierre who has been tapped to replace the injured Matt Serra to face Matt Hughes for a third time. The winner will walk out of the Octagon as the Interim UFC Welterweight Champion and will be set to face Serra and unify the title when Serra returns from injury.

MATT HUGHES

5' 9 "
170 Lbs.
Age: 34
Record: 43-5-0
From: Hillsboro, Illinois

It was a disappointing Thanksgiving for Matt Hughes when he learned his original opponent for UFC 79 - his arch nemesis, Matt Serra - was forced to withdraw from the bout due to injury. But the disappointment quickly turned to excitement when Hughes was offered the chance to avenge his last loss. The former champ jumped at the opportunity to fight Georges St-Pierre for a third time. Should he walk away with the victory, he will wear UFC gold around his waist for a third time.
