DECEMBER - LOST A 12-ROUND UNANIMOUS DECISION IN THE REMATCH AGAINST MONTELL GRIFFIN who kept a busier pace, but Toney landed the harder punches.

AUGUST - WON BY KNOCKOUT AGAINST DURAN WILLIAMS. Toney staggered Williams in the 1st round, but he recovered and out-hustled James for several rounds. Toney rallied in the 6th and scored knockdowns in the 8th and 9th rounds. Williams was counted out at 2:06 of the 9th.

MAY - WON BY TKO AGAINST EARL BUTLER. Toney knocked down butler and scored a standing 8-count in the 3rd round. He rocked Butler several times in the 4th rund and the referee stopped the fight at 0:46.

MARCH - WON A 10-ROUND DECISION AGAINST JOURNEYMAN RICHARD MASON.

1995

DECEMBER - WON BY KNOCKOUT AGAINST GREG EVERETT in the 2nd round.

SEPTEMBER - WON BY DISQUALIFICATION AGAINST ERNEST MATEEN in the 5th round.

JUNE - WON BY TKO AGAINST FRED DELGADO in the 5th round.

APRIL - WON USBA LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE BY TKO AGAINST FORMER U.S. OLYMPIAN, ANTHONY HEMBRICK in the 5th round.

MARCH - WON BY KO AGAINST KARL WILLIS in the 8th round.

FEBRUARY - LOST A 12-ROUND MAJORITY DECISION AGAINST MONTELL GRIFFIN in a close fight. Many observers throught Toney deserved the win.

1994

NOVEMBER - LOST IBF SUPER MIDDLEWEIGHT TITLE BY A 12-ROUND UNANIMOUS DECISION AGAINST FORMER MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION, ROY JONES, JR. It was a battle of undefeated superstars, but Jones dominated the fight. Jones frustrated Toney with movement and outworked him, and scored a knockdown in the 3rd round.

JULY - WON 3RD IBF SUPER MIDDLEWEIGHT WORLD TITLE DEFENSE BY TKO AGAINST FORMER IBF LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION, PRINCE CHARLES WILLIAMS. Toney was penalized one point in the 8th round for punching after the bell, but dominated the late rounds and stopped Williams at 2:45 of the 12th.

MARCH - WON 2ND IBF SUPER MIDDLEWEIGHT WORLD TITLE DEFENSE BY TKO AGAINST TIM LITTLES in a sensational performance by Toney. He was badly cut over the eye in the 3rd round and was told by the ringside doctor that the fight would be stopped after one more round. Toney fought ferociously in the 4th, scored three knockdowns and stopped Littles at 1:03.

1993

OCTOBER - WON 1ST IBF SUPER MIDDLEWEIGHT WORLD TITLE DEFENSE BY 12-ROUND UNANIMOUS DECISION AGAINST TONY THORNTON.

FEBRUARY - WON IBF SUPER MIDDLEWEIGHT WORLD TITLE AGAINST DEFENDING CHAMPION, IRAN BARKLEY BY TKO. Toney dominated the fight and stopped Barkley on cuts in the 9th round.

1992

AUGUST - WON 6TH IBF MIDDLEWEIGHT WORLD TITLE DEFENSE AGAINST MIKE MCCALLUM BY A 12-ROUND MAJORITY DECISION. Toney then vacated the title to move up in weight.

APRIL - WON 5TH IBF MIDDLEWEIGHT WORLD TITLE DEFENSE BY A 12-ROUND UNANIMOUS DECISION AGAINST GLEN WOLFE.

FEBRUARY - WON 4TH IBF MIDDLEWEIGHT WORLD TITLE DEFENSE BY SPLIT DECISION AGAINST DAVE TIBERI. Toney gave a lethargic performance and Tiberi outworked him in several rounds but the judges scored the win for Toney. The controversey started a U.S. Senate investigation of boxing.

1991

DECEMBER - FOUGHT TO A DRAW IN 3RD IBF MIDDLEWEIGHT WORLD TITLE DEFENSE AGAINST MIKE MCCALLUM.

OCTOBER - WON 2ND IBF MIDDLEWEIGHT WORLD TITLE DEFENSE BY KO AGAINST FRANCESCO DELL' AQUILA in the 4th round.

JUNE - WON 1ST IBF MIDDLEWEIGHT WORLD TITLE DEFENSE AGAINST REGGIE JOHNSON BY 12-ROUND UNANIMOUS DECISION. In a close fight, Johnson scored a knockdown in the 2nd round (the first time Toney had been down in his career). After six rounds, Johnson led on the scorecards but Toney dominated the second half of the fight to socre the victory. Johnson went on to win the WBA middleweight and IBF light heavyweight world titles.

MAY - WON IBF MIDDLEWEIGHT WORLD TITLE BY KO AGAINST DEFENDING CHAMPION, MICHAEL NUNN. It was a spectacular come-from-behind win. Nunn outboxed James and dominated the fight, but Toney scored two knockdowns in the 11th round and stopped Nunn at 2:14.
