Rahman-Toney Draw

Hasim Rahman throws nice jabs and the occasional right lands cleanly in the first. James Toney is active as well but is edged out by Rahman's harder shots.

Another exciting round with both fighters landing but Toney wins flurries with his back to the ropes and takes the second.

Both fighters make huge contact in third, the fight's best round.

Rahman concentrates primarily on Toney's body in the fourth and takes the round. Rahman takes the round with stiff jabs and Toney seems tired.

Rahman takes the fifth but is cut over the left eye by an accidental clash of heads. Toney lands some nice combinations in close but Rahman's superior size and strength seem to be sapping the energy of Toney.

The sixth is a close Toney round. A good solid round for Toney as his punches are very acurate.

Rahman slows down in the seventh and Toney wins round.

Another blazing round as both men tee off. Rahman takes the eighth round by virtue of his stronger shots.

Rahman has a good ninth round pinning Toney against the ropes and scoring with more blows.

Toney wins the 10th with his more accurate left jabs and hooks to Rahman's body. Both men have slowed down.

Toney wins a very close 11th round as both fighters are exhausted.

We have it a very close fight going into the 12th. Toney starts quickly but again fades as Rahman rallies at the end. Rahman wins the round.

Rahman appeared to just plainly outwork Toney as Toney was just too small and too heavy.

But, surprise! Two of the three judges scored the fight a draw so it goes into the books as a draw and Rahman retains his WBC title. Still, it appeared a strange decision. We at Canadastar had Rahman wining 115-114.

A rematch would appear appropriate.
