Oscar De La Hoya counters the wild swinging Mayorga with a big left hook and drops Mayorga in the first.

De La Hoya wins 2nd and dominates the round nailing Mayorga with lefts and rights.

Mayorga stuns De La Hoya halfway through third round with a hard right and rallies to take round three.

De La Hoya wins the fourth with nice combo's and a rapier jab.

De La Hoya picks off most of Mayorga's wild blows and dominates with an educated jab and takes the fifth.

De La Hoya catches Mayorga on the ropes and promptly flattens him in the sixth. Mayorga gets up after an 8-count and De La Hoya finishes Mayorga off with a flurry of punches and it's all over.

De La Hoya wins by TKO in round six and is now the WBC Super Welterweight Champion.

When asked about his future plans, De La Hoya said that he would have to sit down with his people to discuss before he decides whether this was his last fight or whether he will fight again in September.
