TAYLOR vs HOPKINS 2
THE RESULT
Jermain Taylor vs Bernard Hopkins 2
World Middleweight Championship
Saturday, December 3, 2005
In a fight not unlike their first encounter, Jermain Taylor edged out former champion, Bernard Hopkins in another 12-round decision.
All three judges scored it 115-113. Once again, Taylor built up an early lead and held on for the victory when, as usual, Hopkins rallied to win 3 of the last 4 rounds. These two fighters do not provide great entertainment, but do give you drama and there is no need for a third encounter. It would look exactly like the first two.
Taylor remains undefeated and can now go on to defend his title and make a name for himself. Hopkins, the ageless wonder, may take on one more fight of significance before he retires.
On the undercard, Ike Quartey pounded Carlos Bojorquez for 9 rounds before the referee mercifully stopped the carnage.in round 10. Quartey is positioning himself for a big fight in 2006.
