Antonio Tarver decisioned the come-backing Roy Jones, Jr. to win the trilogy two wins to one.
Tarver was the busier fighter against the reluctant Jones, who seemed content to stay out of harm's way for the most part. Both fighters had their moments, but it was far and few between. Tarver staggered Jones in the 11th with a right hook, and for a moment it appeared Jones may go down, but just as suddenly Tarver appeared to tire and Jones came firing back by the end of the round.
Tarver fought a very disciplined, if not exciting fight, while Jones posed and feinted for much of the twelve rounds, which cost him the decision.
The drama and storyline leading up to the fight far outweighed the actual action of the bout.
Tarver improves to 24-3. Jones drops to 49-3 and has now lost his last 3 fights, two by knockout.
