In an all-out slugfest over 12 gruelling rounds, Erik Morales won a unanimous decision over Carlos Hernandez to unify the Super Featherweight title.
Although the scorecards indicated a lopsided win over Hernandez, each and every round was a battle. Morales was challenged and had to fight for each and every round. Hernandez, the aggressor, rushed at Morales with more punches, but his punches were wide. Morales fired back with punches that were fewer, but with more precision and accuracy.
It was simply a question of the skill of Morales beating the determination of the scrappy Hernandez.
Morales goes to 47-1 with his only loss to Marco Antonio Barrera by decision, while Hernandez drops his record to 40-4-1. |
